The competition included three types of physical activities: pull-ups, arm wrestling, and dip bars. This event not only promoted physical fitness but also fostered a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among the youth.
The winners of the competition were awarded diplomas and memorable gifts, encouraging continued engagement in physical fitness and healthy living. This collaboration underscores BSU’s commitment to promoting physical activity and supporting the well-being of students who have served in the military.

Volleyball Day at Bukhara State University
Reflecting the belief that a healthy body fosters a healthy mind, BSU organised a volleyball event for its faculty, staff, and students. This event was part of a broader initiative to promote mass participation in sports, aligning with the directives set by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to enhance health, education, and sports throughout 2024. The volleyball event allowed the university community to engage in physical activity, thereby contributing to their overall health and well-being.
The event is one of many organized by BSU to fulfil its mission of promoting physical activity among students and staff, ensuring that sports and health are integral components of university life.

“Towards a Healthy Life Together” Roundtable on World AIDS Day
On December 1st, in observance of World AIDS Day, BSU hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Towards a Healthy Life Together.” This event was conducted in collaboration with the AIDS Prevention Center, the Bukhara Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, and the Internal Affairs Department. Experts from these institutions, including B. Kholiyev from the AIDS Prevention Center and Dr. T. Khakimov from the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, provided students with comprehensive information on the transmission routes, symptoms, and preventive measures of HIV/AIDS. They also emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent the spread of the disease.
The event also included a survey of students to gauge their understanding of the issues discussed, and it concluded with a contest for the best poster on the theme, with the winners receiving recognition and awards. This collaboration highlights BSU’s proactive approach to health education, ensuring that students are informed and equipped to make healthy choices.

Bukhara State University (BuxDU) has established a notable collaboration with “Buxoro Shifo Servis” LLC, specifically through their affiliated No. 3 polyclinic. This partnership facilitates regular medical examinations for the university’s faculty, staff, and students. The polyclinic serves as a vital resource where professors, teachers, and other university employees undergo routine health check-ups at the university’s expense. These medical examinations are part of an ongoing commitment to ensuring the well-being of the university community.
The collaboration is crucial for maintaining the overall health of the university’s population, with all students being registered at the No. 3 polyclinic. The initiative is comprehensive, covering necessary medical documentation such as medical booklets, which are required for faculty and staff members. The process includes bringing essential identification like passports and photographs, ensuring that the health records are up-to-date and that medical needs are promptly addressed.

“Ziyorat Velomarafoni” Bike Marathon
In a bid to promote a healthy lifestyle, BSU has established the tradition of organizing a weekly bike marathon, known as the “Ziyorat Velomarafoni.” Every Friday, the university’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students participate in this event, which involves cycling to various historical sites in the region, such as the Chor Bakr architectural complex. This event not only encourages physical fitness but also fosters a connection with the local cultural heritage.
The bike marathon is part of the university’s broader initiative to integrate healthy habits into the daily lives of its community members. It provides an excellent opportunity for participants to stay physically active while also enjoying the rich cultural history of the Bukhara region.

Health outreach programmes

Deliver outreach programmes and projects in the local community (which can include student volunteering programmes) to improve or promote health and well-being including hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, aging well, and other health and well-being related topics. This can also include outreach programmes to displaced or refugee communities local to the institution.

Health Outreach Programmes at Bukhara State University (BuxDU)

Bukhara State University (BuxDU) actively promotes health and well-being within the local community through various outreach programs. These initiatives are designed to improve health awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles, and support well-being across different population segments, including students, faculty, and local residents.

One significant initiative is the collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan under the campaign titled “Healthy Family – Healthy Society.” As part of this campaign, BuxDU’s Rector, Obidjon Xamidov, was recognized with an appreciation certificate and a collection of books for his close cooperation in organizing the “Exemplary Family” competition among internal affairs officers. This initiative underscores the university’s commitment to supporting family well-being and reinforcing positive family values within the community.

Shared Sports Facilities at Bukhara State University
